●在英语里，如果离开了“do”这个词，人们简直无法沟通。它是乐于助人的模范。作为最重要的“助动词”之一，在以动词为核心的句子中，没有了它，句子根本无法表达否定、疑问的含义。
●“do”还是“万金油”，可以代替许多动词使用。凡是表达与衣食住行相关的行动，都有它的存在。
●比如，做饭“do the cooking”。再具体一点，做鱼“do fish”，早餐做个鸡蛋卷“do omelets”；除了做饭烧菜，干点儿别的家务也没问题。吃完饭洗盘子“do the dishes”，打扫卫生“do the cleaning”，整理房间“do room”。再换点儿别的事情做做。女士做头发“do hair”，出门前化妆“do face”，美化室内做插花“do flowers”。男士也离不开它。比如开车，表达每小时开六十英里用“do 60 miles an hour”，出了故障修车“do repairs”。任务没完成加个班“do overtime”。孩子们也喜欢用它。比如做作业“do homework”，做练习“do exercises”。大事件“do”也参与，比如在军队服役三年“do three years in the army”，演员扮演角色“do a character in the play”。旅游，“dofive countries in a week”一个星期游览了五个国家。
